Sinds begin juli heeft singer/songwriter Ad van Meurs - The
Watchman - zijn eigen stekkie op myspace.com. Van zijn spiksplinter
nieuwe cd ‘High Acres' (zie onze recensie) zijn vier van de twaalf
nummers in zijn geheel te beluisteren: Eagle Lander, High Acres, The
Ring en Dumbo.
Onder het hoofdstukje ‘Influences' schrijft Van Meurs op de van hem bekende onderkoeld humoristische manier: "Beatles and Stones, Townes van Zandt, French chansons from the 50ties an 60ties old blues and traditional folk and also some cool jazz, well I don't know Let's say anything but Marillion and Heino. I like cool songwriting and acoustic instruments."
En onder ‘Sounds like': "sounds like us, dark male vocals with sweet female vocals and good songs mostly in an acoustic setting."
Overigens preseneert The Watchman zijn nieuwe album op maandagavond 18 september in Meneer Frits, het grand café van het Eindhovense Muziekcentrum Frits Philips. Van Meurs treedt dan op met zijn complete Watchman-band, aangevuld met pianist Gerard de Graaf en percussionist Osama Mileeghi. .
