In de (inter-)nationale media wordt vooral aandacht besteed aan de grote winnaars van de Grammy's, maar er worden prijzen uitgereikt in 84 categorieën , waaronder folk, americana, bluegrass en blues. Jason Isbell mocht maar liefst twee Grammy's in ontvangst nemen, Aimee Mann kreeg de prijs voor Best Folk Album, de Best Rock Performance ging postuum naar Leonard Cohen en Best Traditional Blues Album kreeg een opmerkelijke winnaar in The Rolling Stones. De prijs voor Best Bluegrass Album kreeg twee winnaars: The Infamous Stringdusters en Rhonda Vincent.
